Police have identified the body found in a mini-van yesterday as 55-year-old Terry Wimes of Fort Wayne. Police also have a clue that could tell them how long the body was in the van. The van was parked in front of an apartment complex. Neighbors have given conflicting reports about how long they noticed the odor varying from two days to two weeks. Neighbors did tell Fox Fort Wayne they thought the odor was a dead animal from the wooded area across the street. That is why they waited so long to call police. Police found maggots in the car with Wimes. Maggots have a definitive life cycle. The maggots development will give police a time line for how long the body was there. Police say the van was registered to Wimes wife. No missing person report was filed regarding Wimes. Police are still investigating.
