breaking news
It was a big day for both shoppers and fundraisers. The sale at Covington Commons beat their goal of $500 within the first three hours. This is great news because the money is going to the Alzheimers Association.
Ann Marie Sordelet with the Assisted Living Garden Homes says “It was a very successful day.”
A successful day indeed. In the first hour of the garage sale, over half of the items were out the door. By the end of the day the total amount raised with $5,110.
Dick Hammon, also with the Assisted Living Garden Homes says “We started at 8:00 this morning and there were cars anxiously waiting at 7:30 this morning.”
From chairs, lamps and Christmas decorations, one mans trash is another mans treasure, and its all going to a good cause.
Hammon says “The yard sale is just one of the ways that we are raising funds. All proceeds will go to Alzheimers major event of the year which is the Memory Walk.”
This is the first year of the yard sale fundraiser. Organizers of the event say it will be back next year.
The Memory Walk will be held at Foster Park on September 12.
