Officer Thomas K. Andrews is suspended for 180 days without pay charged with a violation of sexual activity while on duty. The woman Andrews was involved with is the one who turned him in.
Andrews is a fifteen year veteran of the police force. The incident happened last May. Officer Andrews car was outside of a womans home for 30-45 minutes. The woman had a live-in boyfriend who was estranged at the time. The boyfriend came home while Officer Andrews was at the house. Sometime later the woman reconciled with her boyfriend. They both turned Officer Andrews in for sexual activity while on the job.
Police Chief Rusty York says he examines an officers entire record when considering discipline. The 180 work day suspension is the harshest penalty York could impose. Chief York says the the next step would have been firing Andrews.
Andrews suspension started July 15th of this year and will end in April of next year.
