Iron Chef Cat Cora was in Fort Wayne today to raise money for the “Blessings in a Backpack" food program.
Cora was the only female to successfully compete on Food Networks Iron Chef America show.
She attended a book signing and dinner fundraiser today at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
The money will help feed Fort Wayne community school students. The program provides kids with food before they leave school for the weekend.
“Theyve been fed all week long. Then they go home on the weekend and they dont have the meals, they dont have nutrition on the weekends” says Cora.
She adds that when students come back to school and theyre sick or hungry and so “its really important that we reach out to these kids and make sure they go home with a full back pack.”
“Blessings in a Backpack” currently serves students at three Fort Wayne community schools: Adams, Fairfield, and South Wayne elementary.
Cora gave birth to her fourth son just three weeks ago. She is currently in a partnership with Disney to open a new restaurant at Walt Disney World called “Kouzzina.”. The new Mediterranean-style restaurant is set to open next month.
