Job Fair

The line to get into the job fair was out the door. There was a huge turn out.
Senatory Bayh said there were 50 companies at the job fair and more than 850 available jobs.
Senator Evan Bayh addressed the current unemployment rates. His hope was todays job fair would help Hoosiers find work. “This is the best way to focus on jobs, and today is all about the people trying to get work.”
Many of those looking for employment the same stories of being layoffs, month of job searching, or a recently graduating.
Tom Pentenburg was at the job fair as an employer looking to hire a new staff. He started his staffing company, Spherion, after loosing his own job. He had tips on how to leave a good impression on employers. “Proper attire, bring a resume. Make sure your resume is up to date. If you have your own personal business card that would be great.”
The fair was for those looking for work, those seeking additional training and people wanting to start a small business.
Bayh says “The small business administration is here today to help people who want to start a small business and put together a business strategy.”
Many of the companies at todays job fair provide full health care benefits. Senator Bayh says that employment and healthcare go hand in hand. “We have this big debate on what to do with healthcare. One of the best things we can do for healthcare to help people find good jobs that have affordable health care benefits.”
As for his taking a position on healthcare reform, Bayh says “I do not, because there is no bill to take a position on. This is a work in progress. “
