Renaissance Square Debate

It all started back in June when the city proposed to move out of the City County building and into Renaissance Square.
The debate now continues in the form of letters. The county was the last to respond. Fridays, August 14th, request was to meet face to face with city officials to discuss the Renaissance Square purchase. That response has yet to be answered.
County Commissioner, Bill Brown, wants to make it clear theyre not opposed to the city buying Renaissance Square. “We are not asking the Mayor to buy the building, we are saying go ahead and buy the building.”
Mayor Tom Henry says he cant honor the countys request until the city council approves the purchase of Renaissance Square.
Mayor Tom Henry says “Once that approval is given, I hope, by the city council then the county commissioners and I can sit down and discuss how to best utilize the two buildings.”
But the county has concerns over city council approving Renaissance Square before they can voice their two cents. Brown says “We just need to get the details worked out before we get too far down the line.”
The one thing both the city and county seem to agree on is the newly formed Working Group. This group was created to crunch numbers on which proposal would be best for taxpayers. Both the city and county agree the Working Group shows cooperation between them.
City council meets Tuesday night. Discussion of renaissance square is on the agenda.
