We are still about 4 months away from Christmas, but Fleetwood RV in Decatur received an extra special gift today…make that 300 extra special gifts.
“Its an extremely proud workforce here” says John Draheim, President and COO of Fleetwood RV.
600 workers were brought back last month after the company was sold off to a private firm. The company had facilities in California and Pennsylvania. They’ve announced that Decatur will become the new headquarters, adding 300 more workers by November.
“Its really great to see a town like Decatur score a win like this but first a save then a win” says Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.
Jerry Lamb is a Designer for Fleetwood. He says the company’s turn-around “puts Decatur and Fleetwood RV as a new company, in everybodys face.”
The RV manufacturing company has 3 production lines, 2 in use right now. The third will soon to be back in the mix and fully staffed.
“All 3 lines will be operational by the end of September” says Draheim.
This announcement is not only expected to help Fleetwood, but surrounding companies as well.
“Youll see a lot more viability of businesses in the community” Draheim adds. He also says that the “ fact were able to bring people back to work and they can work a full 5 day work week and be able to support the family...theyre thrilled, theyre honored, theyre very encouraged.”
