Snider football is under the leadership of a new head coach this year. Kurt Tippmann, is taking over for Russ Isaacs. Isaacs was head coach for 18 seasons, and has one of the best coaching records in the state. Kurt is not new to the team; he worked under Isaacs for 12 years as defensive coordinator and assistant coach. Tippmann says just because there is a new head coach at Snider doesn’t mean fans should expect big changes. “We continue to do things as we did under Coach Isaacs, for many years. The program won’t change much its not about the head coach, it’s about the staff and the player.” Isaacs, didn’t stray too far from home. He is now that Athletic Director at Snider. He says it was a good move for him, but he misses his old job. “I miss being with the program every day. I miss the coaches. The coaches are my best friends.” Isaacs is confident that Tippmann was the best choice for head coach, and praises his work ethic. “He’s a Tireless worker. No one is going to work more than him or our staff. No one will be more prepared than he is and our staff.” And hard work it will take. 5 of the 10 teams in the conference have won state championships. Tippmann says “Fort Wayne is a great football city. When you play in the SAC conference, every week you known you are going to be facing great athletes.” And the team to beat this year is Bishop Dwenger. They have won the SAC title the past three years. Snider says they won’t let titles get in their way. Their goal is to win the conference championship. Snider and Bishop Luers High School face off tomorrow evening at 7.
