The Ft. Wayne-Allen County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People held a banquet at the convention center to celebrate 100-years of the organization's existence.
The NAACP was founded in 1909. Civil rights activist W.E.B. DuBois and white civil rights activists were among the founding group. Since then the group has gone on to champion many civil rights, most famously fighting to end the separate-but-equal doctrine in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education.
