The shooting happened at the southwest corner of Avondale and Richardsville shortly before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say there was a disturbance in the home that lead to the shooting. Two men ended up in the street where one shot the other.

Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson Liza Thomas says “When police arrived they found many people in the street. A victim was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken away in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased."  The victim is in his twenties.

Police say the shooter ran away before they got there. The identity of the shooter is unknown. Neighbors FOX Fort Wayne spoke to say they didn't see anything, but heard a loud gunshot.

Police stayed on scene to collect evidence and question witnesses. A white car was towed away for further investigation. Police say the white car was seen next to the victim at the time of the shooting.

There has been six murders in Fort Wayne this year. All have been on the southeast side.
