This weekend's fundraiser will include North Side Alumni basketball games, and a silent auction. Every cent raised will go toward Jeron's infant son, Jamel.
Jeron Lewis was playing in a game for the University of Southern Indiana when he hit the floor. He died that day; the cause was an enlarged heart.
Jeron only knew his baby for 2 weeks before his death. He and his fiancé, Shaqueta Thomas, planned to get married this summer. Shaqueta is still a year away from graduating college. Shaqueta says “I can't even explain it because right now I don't have a job. I'm trying to focus on school. So I was reliant on Jeron to help me. But now I'm relying on my mom.”
To help this hurting family, North Side is putting on a fundraiser to benefit the little guy. Items that will be sold in the silent auction include a signed Colts football and basketballs signed by college basketball coaches.
North Side is unsure how much money will be raised, or how many will attend. But they say everyone's welcome.
The fundraiser will be at the By Hey Arena located at 475 E. State Blvd. On Saturday, March 20. The women's game will begin at 5 p.m. and the men’s will follow at 7 p.m.
Admission is $3.00
