The Grace College campus is grieving the death of Mallori Kastner. She was killed when a tree fell on her Saturday.  She played volleyball. Her teammates are struggling with the loss.

Mallori Kastner was in her first year at Grace College, but was killed in an accident Saturday night. She was off campus with another student Jeremy Mohr. They were along the shore of Winona Lake when a tree fell on them. Mallori died on the scene. Jeremy was hit in the upper body. He's in the hospital in critical condition.

Chad Briscoe, the Director of Athletics at Grace College, says “Anytime a life is cut short there's great loss in that. Our greatest prayer now is that we pray God is glorified through the loss that others may come to know Christ.”

Ron Manahan, the President at Grace College, says “We all have those 'why' questions and the fact that they are so difficult to answer mean much of the time there isn't an answer.”

Mallori played on the volleyball team. Her Resident Assistant, Lauren McMillion, says she was close with her teammates. McMillion says “They are handling it really well. A couple of them are obviously going to take it harder than others. But they have been really open about it and have been there for each other.”

The volleyball team will not play again until next Friday. Campus leaders say to cope, they've turned to prayer. But the healing process will be a long one.

Mallori's funeral will be Wednesday. Classes will be canceled that morning so students can attend.
