DeKalb high school's show choir, Classic Connections, was selected by Parade Magazine as one of the top 10 in the nation. They're the only Indiana group in the running. The winner will be announced Wednesday.

50 Classic Connections performers are crossing their fingers that they'll be named Americas Favorite Show Choir. Tyler Doyle, a Senior DeKalb high school, says “It's still in the surreal phase. Where it's like wow this is a big deal and we actually have a chance to win it.”

The group's director Shelley says the nomination is unique because they never expected it. Johnson says “The ones that are the most fun are the ones that are unexpected. If you win a competition where you didn't think you had a chance that's a great feeling.”

FOX's hit show Glee has inspired many in the group, who say the show has breathed new life into the art. Terrian Thomas, a senior at DeKalb high school says “Before Glee, you're a show choir and not a lot of people know what that is, so that's kind of given us a new name.” Johnson says “I think it's brought a lot more awareness to our plight. We've always had a pretty good following at DeKalb.”

They're hoping that following will take them to the top. Doyle says “Our librarian let us go down and vote and a lot of the teachers have gotten behind us and taken their classes down to vote.”
Johnson says “Now I know how American Idol feels and Dancing with the Stars, please please please phone in your vote. So were calling everybody. Because now it's just online voting that's all there is to it.”

Voting closes at Midnight!
