Six months ago Marlin Stutzman was prepping for the Senate primary.

He lost to Dan Coats.

But, in the defeat he found a silver lining.

“Politics is all about timing and being at the right place at the right time. We knew it would pay off in the long run, but we didn't expect it to be this soon” Marlin Stutzman told FOX Fort Wayne today.

Stutzman is five days away from possibly a new job, new title and new governmental journey as Congressman of the 3rd District.

The national debt that we face seems insurmountable, but we have to do something about it” Stutzman says.

Today dozens of Stutzman supporters rallied despite the bitter cold. Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries and Congressman Mike Pence were among the several Indiana leaders that attended.

"Marlin Stutzman will be a leader in the next rising majority from the very day he arrives in Washington” says Pence.

Stutzman says having Pence’s support means a lot because “he's the face of a leader we need in Washington D.C.

The crowd was also there to support Pence. The 6th District Congressman addressed his possible 2012 run for president.

“I’m absolutely determined to stay completely focused on November the second. What role we play in congress or what opportunities we go after outside the congress we'll take up after that” says Pence.

Pence was the winner of a recent presidential straw poll beating out former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

"We are very humbled, but I took it more as an affirmation of our message rather than the messenger” says Pence.

Stutzman says he would like to see Pence assume the roll of President.

“Absolutely, he's the type of person we're looking for. You look at Indiana’s and we've got great leaders right here in Indiana” says Stutzman.

For now Pence is focused on next week's election. Stutzman will also spend the next few days pounding the pavement.

"We're going to sleep much better after November 2” says Stutzman.
