Police say three shootings, one this weekend, one yesterday and one early this morning, are all gang related. Raquel Foster, the Spokesperson for the Fort Wayne Police Department says “With those 2 groups they do have previous involvement with law enforcement, so they are not strangers.”
The chain of gang shootings began Sunday at Rick O' Shay's pub. Jaquan Gentry and Jeffery Moore were killed. Another man, Demetrius Masterson was wounded in the shooting.
A woman shot Monday near McKinney Avenue remains in serious condition.
The most recent shooting happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning. Shots were fired into a home in this neighborhood near McMillen Park. Bullets went through the front door and struck a man inside. Foster says “They arrived and did locate a 19 year old male subject who was suffering from what appears to be a gun shot wound. He was in serious condition at the scene.” He is still in serious condition.
Masterson is currently being held in the Allen County jail on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness for shooting a gun. Masterson will be kept in jail until his hearing on Monday.
No other arrests have been made, and police say they are not ready to give out the names of suspects.
