A jury has found a Fort Wayne man guilty of murder.

Khristopher Harvey, 23, faces decades in prison. Besides the murder charge, a jury convicted Harvey of illegally possessing a gun and using it to kill someone.

This stems from the June 2009 shooting death of Mario Edwards. Police say just after midnight on June 2, 2009, Harvey shot Edwards on Fayette Drive in Fort Wayne. A witness told police he and Harvey were going to buy some drugs, but instead, Harvey shot Edwards.

Edwards' family was in court Thursday. They say they feel vindicated by the verdict.

“It's been hard,” said Quaya Wyatt, Edwards’ sister. “These past three days has been really, really hard for me and my family, and we're just happy that justice is served.”

Khristopher Harvey is scheduled to be sentenced December 17.
