Two former Allen County group homes are open again, but under new management.

Kryder and Yoder Homes on Lima Road closed last year due to lack of funding. White's Residential and Family Services has since moved in.

Dee Gibson, White's CEO, says the new location helps them serve more people in the Allen County area.

One of the homes serves as the agency's office, while the other serves as a residence for a family helping to raise foster children.

“It's a challenge like any parent because, I mean, the children coming into your home have been raised different, and you never know their history,” said foster parent Stephen Ratcliff, who lives at Kryder Home while he and his wife take care of two foster children. “But it's a tremendous blessing to watch them experience opportunities.”

Besides foster care, the Fort Wayne office will provide adoption services and independent living training.
