He's come a long way since his days on American Idol.

"Until recently, I never understood why people liked hearing my voice. I never liked the sound of my voice. I'd run away and cover my ears and go 'ahh’” American Idol finalist David Archuleta told FOX Fort Wayne’s Kristin Mazur.

Archuleta was the baby-faced darling of Season 7. His angelic voice landed him runner-up, just barely losing out to David Cook.

"The first audition there was 15-thousand people.  I thought, 'how did I manage to continue going forward?’” says Archuleta.

Archuleta was just 16-years-old when he competed on Idol. Now nineteen he's done more in those three years than many have in a lifetime.

Archuleta was one of the youngest on American Idol.

"It was hard. The hardest thing was having school. It was required and people were already overwhelmed enough” he says.

He has a self-titled album, Christmas album, and now new album that was released last month, “The Other Side Of Down”, under his belt.

"I wanted to show people who David was. I never felt like I got to do that with music yet” he says.

Archuleta's toured the world and made several TV guest appearances. His dream is to appear on another FOX hit, "Glee". In fact,  Archuleta's quite close with newcomer Charice who plays 'Sunshine."

"She's actually someone who I’m good friends with, so it's just so cool to have someone I know go on a show” says Archuleta.

Fans tell FOX Fort Wayne that there are many reasons they're an Archuleta admirer, but the most popular is that “he's super cute." Yet all agree his powerful pipes are what have made his a superstar.
