The latest unemployment numbers for Indiana show 7,600 new private sector jobs created in the Hoosier state last month. The preliminary numbers for October show IN with a 9.9% unemployment rate-  down from 10.1% in September. That is still above the national average of 9.6%.

Other states in the region have unemployment rates similar to IN including Ohio where the rate was 9.9% in October.

Economists say the recession technically ended last summer when gross domestic product rose. However most Americans do not feel like the recession has ended because it takes awhile to see job growth.
