Fort Wayne Community Schools Board Member Kevin Brown pleaded guilty today to driving drunk after a board meeting last September.

Brown was defeated in his re-election bid earlier this month.

FOX Fort Wayne’s Kristin Mazur was the only reporter to talk with Brown today about his arrest and about his feud with other board members.

“Just own up to your mistakes because you're going to make mistakes” says Brown.

Brown was arrested a few months ago, just hours after attending a school board meeting. Police reports say he reeked of alcohol, his eyes were glassy, and he had trouble speaking. At the scene his blood alcohol level was .119.

Brown told FOX Fort Wayne today that he went to Champion’s Sports Bar downtown to celebrate his birthday.

“After the board meeting I stopped at champions and had a couple beers and then got a ride home” he says.

Brown then says he made an extremely dumb move. He hopped in his car, headed back out-and went grocery shopping.

"I wish I would have stayed put better, but you know, I can't change the past, I can only move forward and remain positive” Brown says.

Following the arrest, Brown was criticized by fellow board members.

Several showed no support for his re-election bid.

"I hold no animosity towards anybody and I want that to be known. each and everyone of us has to travel our own journey and I’m not accountable for anybody else's and they're not accountable for mine” he says.

Brown was charged with another DUI back in 2001. He says it was around the time that he lost his dad, lost his job, and was going through a divorce. Brown says he wasn't dealing with anything this time around but jokingly says:

"(FWCS Board President) Mark GiaQuinta sometimes would make you have a few” Brown says.

Brown will be back in court in a few weeks to receive his sentence.
