Daniels Says 'No' To President Despite Continued Pleas

It's been an unconventional primary season, and with no clear GOP frontrunner so far, many Americans are begging Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels to rethink a run for the president.

"The reason they are looking at Mitch is because of his record here in Indiana. He had a vision of what he wanted to do for the state. He has a record of results of implementing that vision" says Pete Seat, Communications Director for the Indiana Republican Party.

Daniels has stated several times that he won't run, but was asked today if he would reconsider if it came down to a brokered convention. A brokered convention would happen if none of the current GOP presidential candidates earns enough votes for the nomination.

"I really would not be interested. I'd be interested in finding, if we get to that point, I would be interested in finding someone who can present a really credible and winning alternative" Daniels told reporters today.

Seat tells WFFT that folks from not just the state but across the U.S. are writing to Daniels. He says the amount has increased since Daniels delivered the GOP response to President Obama's State of the Union Address last month.

"There have been seniors who have written to Governor Daniels saying that they don't want to ride off into the sunset knowing that the country is in a worse off place then when they were in their middle-aged years" says Seat.

While a presidential bid may be off the table, Daniels hasn't ruled out vice president or a spot in the presidential cabinet. He's been recently quoted as that he won't automatically rule out the opportunities if they become available.
