Police have held over 200 interviews trying to find the killers behind the murder of Robert and Colleen Grube of Mercer County, but there are still no arrests. The father and his adult daughter were duct taped and shot to death in November. Tips have since slowed down, but this Saturday police responded to the home of father and daughter William and Kathy Fair who called 911 after their home was invaded. Police say the invasion has striking similarities to the Grube case. Mercer County Sherriff, Jeff Grey, says "The father and daughter at this residence are similar in age to Robert and Colleen Grube."
The victims of the home invasion told police the get away vehicle was a dark colored boxy SUV, similar to the vehicle description in the Grube case. The victims also say the intruders tried to use duct tape to tie them down. Duct tape was also used in the Grube's case. In the more recent home invasion the victims report there was at least one male and one female suspect. Grey says "We have a male and female suspect. Of course we have a third male now, but we knew that we had a male and female in the Grube case."
Police are now warning people in the area not to open up if they get an unexpected knock. Grey says "This happened a quarter after 12:00 on Saturday morning. If someone knocks on your door at an unusual hour at this point maybe the thing to do is call 911."
Police can not say for sure that the home invaders are the same people responsible for Grube murder. Grey says "We don't know whether this case is connected to the Grube case. At this point we are assigning it to the same three detectives. We are going to investigate it like it is." But they say it has brought new life and possibly new information to the Grube case.
If you have any information police ask you call their tip line at 567-890-8477.
