Occupy Protesters Evicted from Freimann Square

After more than four months of protest, Fort Wayne's occupy movement has officially been evicted.
Sunday morning, the Fort Wayne Police gave occupiers one hour to leave their camp at Freimann Square. The group had been using the space as a living area since November after they were removed from Headwaters Park.
The mayor's office says the group is taking up valuable space.
"With the change in the season, park use and rental requests will begin to increase, as will the time required to manage this issue," said city spokesman Frank Suarez in a statement. "The Occupy protesters have been informed that a permanent encampment in a public park will no longer be allowed."
Despite the eviction, occupiers said they will continue to fight for their mission of an end to "corporate greed" and economic inequality.
"You can't evict an idea," said Rose Miller who has been working with the movement since October. "We're still going to be fighting against the same [things] that destroy the lifestyles of people in this world."
Miller says occupy will continue meeting in the future, and continue their work -- including a relief fund for tornado victims in Southern Indiana. You can find out more about how to donate at occupyfortwayne.com .
