Fort Wayne Rep. Bob Morris' criticism of the Girl Scouts earlier this year has prompted a fellow republican to consider challenging Morris in the General Election.

Michael Barranda says he will soon be launching an exploratory committee to run for State Representative as an Independent -- he has missed the deadline to run as a Republican in the May primary election.

Barranda says he wants to restore the image of elected officials in the city, which he believes was tarnished, in part, because of Morris' now infamous letter.

In February, the state rep refused so sign a resolution honoring Indiana's Girl Scouts, saying the organization promoted a pro-gay, pro-abortion agenda. The statements spurred criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike.

Barranda says he has not yet made up his mind about running in the general election this year, and would consider a run in 2014 as an alternative.
