Fort Wayne Police responded to a call at a local restaurant this morning of a possible armed robbery. The Fort Wayne Police Department arrived at 1854 Broadway St., Laredo's Restaurant, and upon arrival, one of the responding officers saw two perpetrators fleeing from the restaurant, each in different directions.
The officer pursued one of the perpetrators on foot, but eventually lost sight of him. A subsequent area search by officers and a canine track attempt were unsuccessful, and at this time, the perpetrators remain at large.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two perpetrators entered the restaurant and demanded cash from the register. One perpetrator was reportedly armed with a handgun and the other with a stun gun. Both perpetrators fled the scene and it was reported that as they were fleeing, the two were shedding articles of clothing. The clothing items were discovered in the area when officers were surveying the area, along with other evidence from the scene or the crime; a roll of coins taken from the register and a handbag that was taken from one of the restaurant employees.
Investigators continue to interview witnesses and Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for possible evidence inside the restaurant.
There were no injuries reported at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Anyone with information about this robbery investigation is asked to contact the City of Fort Wayne Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
