Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters says county residents put the pressure on them to lift the burn ban. He says between the public outcry and the recent rainfall, they felt it was the appropriate time to lift the ban.
With the being ban lifted, everything will essentially go back to normal, in Fort Wayne open burning is never allowed unless it is a very small fire. County officials say residents need to remember that we are still in a drought.
Residents are encouraged not to use accelerants like lighter fluid and not to burn when wind speeds are greater than 20 miles per hour.
Commissioners say they will be keeping a close eye on the forecast.
