Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock made a stop in the Summit City. On Wednesday, Mourdock energized GOP voters during a speech at the Allen County Republican headquarters.

With just six weeks until election day, Indiana's senate race is as close as ever.

The most recent Rasmussen poll, taken internally by Democrat Joe Donnelley's campaign shows Mourdock trailing three percent. A Rasmussen poll taken in early August showed a similarly tight race -- Mourdock leading at 42 to 40 percent. Both results are within the margin of error.

As poll margins widen in other states, experts say Indiana's race could mean the difference between a democrat or a republican-controlled senate.

"This is a national race," said Mourdock on Wednesday. "This race will determine whether Harry Ried continues to be the majority leader of the senate. If he is, it's going to be bad news for America."
