Police says 20-year-old Lauren Winston turned himself in after he saw his picture flash across a local news outlet. The picture was one he'd taken with a cell phone he confessed to stealing.

According to court documents, the phone was stolen from the Grand Wayne Center.  The owner of the Smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, says she after she realized her phone was missing she was confident a good Samaritan would turn it in.

The owner, Cathy Dee, says when that good Samaritan never showed up, she deactivated the phone but got an e-mail from dropbox.

Dropbox is an online file-sharing program that she'd downloaded on her phone to back-up her photos. When she opened the file, this is who she saw, Lauren Winston.  She put the picture out all over media and social media, prompting Winston to turn himself in.

This victim says her life was in her phone.  That's the case with many of us, if someone were to find my phone they'd have access to my facebook account, contacts and photos. I'm in the process of upping my phone security, after this story. The women who had her phone stolen says everyone should.

Dee is slightly relieved that she found out her phones whereabouts but she did not get her phone back.  Winston told police, he sold it.  Dee urges other phone users to protect themselves by protecting their phones.
