FWCS Bus Driver Tells Parents 'He may have hit' Student

On Monday, a Fort Wayne Community School bus driver dropped a five-year-old boy off at his normal stop, but the message the driver had for the child's parents was anything but normal. 

 The driver told the child's father he'd had to pull the bus over and discipline the boy during the ride home.

"I just don't think its his place to discipline a child it should be the parents or the principal, there are other ways to do it," said Vickie Follis, a concerned parent. 

"You can't expect to teach our kids non-violence in schools and the bus driver used it so it's sad and disappointing," said Denise Lamkins, a concerned parent. 

The parents of the five-year old fort Wayne community school student say their Childs bus driver told them that their son was misbehaving--so he stopped  the bus and quote,  'may have hit their son'. 

Parents we spoke with today say bus drivers have no place disciplining their children. 

"I think there's other ways to go about it they can put them in the front seat they could be put them there permanently for the whole year.  There's ways to go about it without hitting a student," said Lamkins. 

"It's  not his place I know kids can be disruptive on the busses and get out of control but its not his place to do anything," said Follis. 

We did stop by the families home but they declined to comment on camera. 

According to police, the surveillance tape from the bus shows the driver hitting the student. Pictures taken of the five-year-old boy after the alleged incident also show an injury to his face. 

Police say the driver has been suspended indefinitely and Fort Wayne Community Schools is conducting an investigation.
