A winter storm watch for much of the area could leave some families in the dark on Christmas.
The National Weather Service in northern Indiana says the winter storm watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night. Representatives from Indiana Michigan power are preparing for the worst. An I&M official says "Most people don't know this; we have a staff of meteorologist at our parent company AEP. We've got a team of meteorologist who are watching the weather 24/7. We get updates on what they're expecting for our service territory."
At any given time this weekend 20,000 customers in Indiana were without power due to mechanical issues and wind. I&M says that all power has been restored from those events.
