Fort Wayne, Ind. (WFFT) - A group of residents in Angola are planning a rally in opposition to proposed gun control measures.
The group is upset after Fort Wayne and Angola mayors proposed more gun control policies in a press conference earlier this week. They say they disagree with the mayors' push to ban military-style assault weapons.
Kelly Altwood is a member of the group planning the Pro-Gun Rally. He told WFFT, "People refer to assault riffles as machine guns and interchange the term is not the same thing."
On Monday's press conference Angola's Mayor Richard Hickman and Fort Wayne's Mayor Tom Henry pushed for new gun control policies including a ban on military-style assault riffles.
Rally organizers worry that more gun control policies will infringe on their Second Amendment rights. The Angola Pro-Gun Rally will be held in front of the Angola Court House on Saturday, January 26th from 12-2 p.m. The group asks that supporters bring patriotic flags and signs but leave guns and ammunition locked away safe at home.
