Police were first called to the unit after a tip that there was someone dead inside. It was a bizarre series of events that led police to that address. Now, they are searching for answers.
The first call came in around 1pm with an anonymous tip that there was a body inside this vacant storefront at the Village Center Strip Mall in southeast Fort Wayne.
Possibly a second in the liquor store across the street. When police arrived they found nothing and left. Then an hour later at 2pm a second call from the owner of the unit. He tells WFFT that he stopped by to investigate for himself after hearing about the first call.
He went into the unit and saw two people inside. He believed they were in some form of distress so he calls 911. The police arrived on the scene and discovered two female adults in the unit , one is pronounced dead on the scene.
The other was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The owner telling WFFT that she was breathing heavily and appeared to be seriously ill. Police say they've ruled out the possibility of foul play.
