You might call him a modern-day Robin Hood, but most would call him a fraud. An Angola man was indicted this week on counterfeiting charges after investigators say he printed fake money, and gave some of it away to the needy.

Scot Silvers was indicted on federal charges this week. Angola Police arrested Silvers in late October after a search warrant uncovered a large credit card fraud and counterfeiting operation.

According to court documents, police found more than $1400 in counterfeit cash, several printers, linen paper and credit card processing machines.

Police say he used the fake cards to purchase items online. According to court documents, Silvers admitted to counterfeiting the money, saying he used it to help homeless people.

Silvers is facing at least a half-dozen charges related to the incident. He will be tried in federal court in Fort Wayne.

The Secret Service has put together a guide to show the public how to spot fake bills, you can view it here.
