Some Fort Wayne private schools may soon benefit if local charter schools close.
Recently Ball State decided not to renew its sponsorship of seven charter schools inclusing three in Fort Wayne. That decision has some parents shopping around for new schools.
Today Concordia Lutheran High School held an open house for prospective students. School administrators say they expect a higher volume of students next year.
"We've grown several of the last five years currently the last five years we've grown and had more students and we look for an even bigger freshman class next year than we had this year." said Concordia Lutheran High School Principal Mychal Thom.
Tamyra Kelly with East Allen County Schools says enrollment numbers have dropped in the district from about 9,700 students to 9,500 students.
The Indiana Voucher Program is another reason why some students are transferring to private schools. The Indiana Voucher Program expanded for the 2012-2013 school year to include 15,000 vouchers. That's double the amount available last school year.
