49 year old Jaqueline Hardy was shot and killed near a bus stop in the 4800 block of Reed Steet. Detectives identified the murder suspect as 45 year old Kenneth Knight.

Knight was killed the same afternoon by police who surrounded him in a home on the southeast side of town.  He was killed by a single shot from a sniper at a house in the 3000 block of Holton Avenue.

Earlier that morning, Knight pulled Jaqueline Hardy off a Citilink bus and shot her on a sidewalk nearby.  Knight then fled the scene.

Kenneth Knight was not alone in the house on Holton Avenue.  Shortly after the 4:30pm police carried a 3 year old boy out of the house where Knight was hiding.  The boy was escorted back to his family completely uninjured.

Detectives learned that knight was the former boyfriend of Hardy and that Hardy had recently obtained a restraining order against him.
