breaking news
Last Saturday the roof on the of the Dallas Cowboys practice field collapsed.
A dozen people were injured and one was permanently paralyzed.
So with a dome here in Fort Wayne, could a similar situation occur?
Josh Neal, Maintenance Supervisor for "The Dome" on Engle Road, says there’s a slim chance.
“All of our blowers would have to shutdown and the emergency generator not come on” says Neal.
The facility in Texas is supported by steal beams. The one here in Fort Wayne, however, is climate controlled, meaning air pressure is what keeps it standing.
The Dome has two parts: a large dome as well as a smaller dome. It houses everything from a driving range to soccer and miniature golf to wedding receptions.
General Manager Blas Rodriguez says that if a disaster would occur, emergency plans are in place to ensure the safety of guests.
“We have many exits in both the large dome as well as the small dome” says Rodriguez. He also says the have multiple paths leading away from both domes.
The Dome did have a situation one time in which high winds caused damage. The concrete sign outside of the large dome has destroyed but both domes remained unharmed.
