The big black Friday savings brought big crowds to shopping centers throughout Fort Wayne.  Lines started at some retailers as early as the beginning of this week with people trying to get those door buster deals.

Coles, Target, Gordmans, Maurices.

The holiday shopping list goes on for Jennifer Mounsey who marks black Friday on her calendar every year.

Shoppers like Terri Brown who started at five this morning use a little strategy when hunting for those must have items. She says patience is the key to coming out on top this holiday season.

"It's a lot of standing in line hustle and bustle but some of the deals are really worth it.  It's just nice to make a day of it you definitely can't be in a hurry," said Brown.

While some black Friday shoppers came for the sport and others came for those great deals,  all say it's about being with family.

It's pretty exciting my mom and I come every year we bring my niece and my son," said Brown.

"This is our whole family aunts cousins nieces and we do this every year and we are crazy enough to even come with babies," said Mounsey.

Although the crowds were overwhelming for some shoppers we spoke with, many  say they were expecting their shopping experience to be much more chaotic.

Actually it's not too bad, I mean I think everyone's got the same goal there's  no point in getting mad it doesn't make the situation any better," said Mounsey.

Although it was cold and many were stuffed from the night before, it wasn't enough to keep local shoppers from cashing in on the door buster sales.
