Christmas Dinner At The Rescue Mission

By: Sherrell Hubbard
Updated: December 25, 2012

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans...that's what was on the menu at this year's annual rescue mission dinner. Volunteers pulled together to make sure Christmas was merry for a lot of people today.

People having Christmas at the rescue mission were serenaded by a live band, including the rescue mission's CEO Donovan Coley.  The mission served about 2500 meals today to those in need.

Some families came to get a hearty meal and families of volunteers came to lend a helping hand, like Jackie Ostrowski and her daughter.  Their whole family was busy putting together meals for others.

The mission spends between 20 and $25,000 dollars to put on big holiday meals.  The next meal they will start prepping for is Easter.

The rescue mission runs all on donations. They say they do not accept government funds because they want to be able to keep Christ in Christmas.
