The Fort Wayne head of a government assistance program is in hot water tonight. Betty Anderson , 61, is believed to have illegally used federal funds

Anderson is in charge of Fort Wayne's Housing Choice Voucher program, but, now her future with the city's housing authority is up in the air.

Court documents say Anderson helped spend thousands of dollars worth of food stamps accidentally given to another woman.

That woman, 22-year-old Dana Freeman, was supposed to receive $350 worth of federal assistance.  Instead she got ten times that.

Court documents say last July, state officials mistakenly put $3500 freeman's electronic benefit card. They say a power outage was to blame.

Documents say Freeman was asked to go to a state agency office and have the problem fixed, but that she never did.

Instead, she allegedly allowed Anderson and four other women to use the extra credit to buy groceries.

Today, WFFT went to Anderson's house for comment, but no one came to the door.

Anderson and the four other women all face felony theft and misdemeanor welfare fraud charges.

Meanwhile, Freeman also faces a felony theft charge along with a corrupt business influence charge

WFFT also stopped by the city's housing authority today for comment from Anderson's boss. He was unavailable and has yet to respond to our message.

Anderson will have her initial hearing tomorrow.
