Around 5:40 Saturday morning, Rheam called Gas City Police saying that her home had been burglarized. Police then showed up to look around and file a report.
Five hours later, a roommate called police saying she had discovered Rheam dead inside the home with a gunshot to the face. Later that day, State Police arrested Tyler Lenoir, 23, and Matthew Tyra, 17, both of Marion. The men are now facing murder and burglary charges.
"They just took stuff that didn't amount to anything [...] nothing that you could say is as priceless as my daughter's life," said Bob Rheam, Ashley's father. "I have one wish and that's to seek the death penalty."
If convicted, Lenoir woud be elegible for the death penalty under Indiana law -- burglary is considered one of 16 'aggravating circumstances' that can make murder a capital crime. Tyra would not be elegible because he is not an adult.
